An abundance has been talked in the press recently concerning the bingo industry being hurt as a result of the cigarette ban in the United Kingdom. Things have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for big aid to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. But does the web adaptation of this classic game offer a reprieve, or will it not compare to its bricks and mortar opposite?
Bingo has been an familiar game normally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. However the game recently had experienced a recent return in appeal with younger men and women deciding to visit the bingo halls instead of the clubs on a weekend. All this is about to be destroyed with the introduction of the smoking ban throughout UK.
No longer will gamblers be allowed to smoke whilst marking off their numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 all public locations will not be allowed to permit smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlours, which are possibly the most popular locations where people enjoy smoking.
The results of the smoking ban can already be seen in Scotland where smoking is already prohibited in the bingo parlours. Numbers have plummeted and the business is absolutely struggling for its life. But where did the players go? Certainly they haven’t forgotten this enduring game?
The answer is on the web. People are now realizing that they can gamble on bingo in front of their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and cig and in the end, have a chance at big cash rewards. This is a recent anomaly and has happened just about perfectly with the ban on smoking.
Of course gambling on online is unlikely to replace the communal part of heading over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of men and women the law has left a good many bingo enthusiasts with no option.
