Much has been talked in the press just a while ago concerning the bingo industry struggling as a consequence of the cigarette ban in Britain. Conditions have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested huge tax cuts to assist in keeping the businesses from going bankrupt. However does the internet variation of this traditional game provide a salvation, or will it in no way compare to its land based opposite?
Bingo has been an established game generally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. No more will gamblers be able to smoke while marking off their numbers. From the summer of ‘07 every public place will not be allowed to permit smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most popular locations where folks enjoy smoking.
The results of the smoking ban can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already not permitted in the bingo halls. Profits have dropped and the industry is beyond a doubt fighting for its life. But where have all the players gone? Of course they haven’t abandoned this ancient game?
The answer is on the net. Gamblers realize that they can play bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and cig and still have a chance at monstrous prizes. This is a recent development and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti smoking law.
Of course wagering on on the net will never replace the social aspect of heading over to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of men and women the rules have left a good many bingo players with little alternative.
