Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. That is because the American Indian bands of Oklahoma have operated Bingo sessions for ages. Patrons from each of the nearby states get in passenger cars and head over to Oklahoma to wager on Bingo on the weekends.
The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act followed a landmark decree by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year before. Since that instance, twenty three of the thirty nine Indian bands located in Oklahoma have introduced gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma American Indian tribes to take advantage of the gambling laws, and today operate ten casinos of their own.
