• Bingo in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. That’s due to the fact that the Amerindian tribes of Oklahoma have operated Bingo sessions for years. Patrons from every one of the nearby states pile in passenger cars and travel to Oklahoma to bet on Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a precedent setting determination by The U.S. Supreme Court the year prior. Since that time, 23 of the 39 American Indian bands located in Oklahoma have established gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the betting laws, and today operate 10 casinos of their own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned gambling halls were founded. Electronic games such as slots were not approved, since they are thought to lead to gambling addiction at a higher rate than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma rules have changed to allow for large American Indian gambling gambling dens. You’ll now discover Amerindian gambling dens with slot machines, video poker and vingt-et-un tables. Craps and roulette are not allowed in the Indian gambling halls as of yet, but that is just a matter of time. Nobody can determine what having other games in the bingo parlors will do for the appeal of bingo.
