Oklahoma has long been analogous with Bingo. This is due to the fact that the Amerindian tribes of Oklahoma have operated Bingo games for many years. Clients from many of the surrounding states pile in cars and travel into Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 IGRA followed a benchmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. Since that time, 23 of the 39 American Indian bands of Oklahoma have established gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Indian tribes to take advantage of the betting restrictions, and at this time control ten casinos of their very own. Bingo is the game on which these gambling dens were built on. Electronic games such as slots were not permitted, due to the fact that they are thought to contribute to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma governing edicts have altered to allow for large Native betting gambling halls. You will now see American Indian gambling dens with one armed bandits, video poker and chemin de fer tables. Craps and roulette are not authorized in the Native gambling dens as of yet, but that is just a waiting game. Nobody can say what having other games in the bingo houses will do for the draw of bingo.
