• Oklahoma Bingo

Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. That is because the Native tribes of Oklahoma have provided Bingo sessions for ages. Guests from many of the nearby states get in vans and head over to Oklahoma to wager on Bingo on the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) was introduced after a landmark ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. Since that time, twenty three of the thirty nine Indian bands of Oklahoma have established gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the gambling laws, and at this time run 10 gambling halls of their own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned gambling dens were built on. automated games like slot machines were not authorized, due to the fact that they are believed to lead to gambling dependency more than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma law have changed to permit enormous Amerindian gaming casinos. You will now find American Indian gambling dens with slots, video poker and blackjack tables. Craps and roulette are still not legal in the Native gambling halls yet, although that is simply a matter of time. No one can say what having other gambling hall games in the bingo parlors will do for the popularity of bingo.
