• Oklahoma Bingo

    [ English ]

Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. That is due to the fact that the Indian bands of Oklahoma have run Bingo sessions for generations. Clients from each of the neighboring states load up in vehicles and travel to Oklahoma to gamble on Bingo on the weekends.

The 1988 IGRA became law after a landmark ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year prior. Since that time, twenty three of the 39 Native tribes of Oklahoma have opened bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Native tribes to take advantage of the gaming restrictions, and today run 10 gambling halls of their very own. Bingo is the game on which these gambling halls were built on. automated games such as slot machines were not permitted, since they are thought to contribute to gambling dependency more than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma governing edicts have changed to allow for gigantic Native gaming gambling halls. You will now find Native gambling dens with one armed bandits, video poker and chemin de fer tables. Craps and roulette are not yet authorized in the Indian casinos as of yet, however that is only a waiting game. Nobody can say what having other casino games in the bingo parlors will do for the appeal of bingo.
